MRN Prayer Request

Posted by: gary on Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Please keep us in your prayers. Right now the prayer request is to get the ministry truck running again. The need is great. We are looking for an engine for a Dodge Ram 1500. It is possible that we have one available but need $1000.00 to purchase it and have it put in. We also need volunteers to help with pick up and deliveries during the daytime, approximately 4 hrs at a time. Lastly, for continued donations of clothes, appliances and household goods in good resellable condition. Thank you so much for your prayer support. God Bless you for coming along side us in prayer for the ministry and the thrift store.

Coming Soon, New Updates

Dear friends of M.R.N

We would like to welcome back our MRN family.  Thank you all for your support and patience while we waited for God to answer our prayers.  As you may remember, we have been praying for the sale of the Adyniec family home in Wisconsin so Gary and his family could come back to Florida and take over the Missionary Resource Network ministry and run the Thrift Store.  That prayer was finally answered.  Gary and his family moved back to Florida in Feb. 2009.

Gary was our first choice in running the ministry ever since Jill and I have been called back into the mission field.  Many of you may remember Gary and his wife Vicki as they helped in starting the ministry 9 years ago. In fact Gary and his daughters painted the inside of the thrift store and Vicki was the first official employee .  Gary was the first volunteer for MRN before the store even opened and has always been actively involved even while in Wisconsin.

Gary is now the Director of the ministry and I am again the president and Executive Director.  You can view the changes to the Board of Directors by clicking on the link at the top of the page. We are glad to say that 5 of the original board members have been with us over 8 years.   Pastor Orlando no longer maintains any involvement with MRN or the Thrift store and is now running a church called Calvary Chapel En Espanol in Coral Springs.

Gary officially took over management details starting June 1st 2009, and has been busy getting things in order for the future of MRN.  His wife Vicki is now running the Thrift Store and we have seen God Blessing their efforts in significant ways. With the work of Gary and Vicki, sales are up 22% over the first part of 2009, this is even true in what is historically our slowest month of the year. The two of them have been a blessing beyond measure and have restored the true spirit of the ministry. We strongly considered closing the store at the lease end in Sept. 2009. But have signed on for another 3 years. There is now a link on this page to check out some of the items at the store.  If you live in the neighborhood, stop in and say hello and welcome them back.

Since coming back, Gary has been able to connect another missionary with the contacts needed to get and ship another container to Haiti, as well as supplying more than 2000 lbs of clothes.  We also have two more requests for containers as well.  He has also been able to rescue a missionary family from the airport where they spent more than 7hrs waiting, and managed to get them a vehicle to get them from Florida to Alabama for a speaking engagement.

We will have regular updates from both the MRN and Amazon Reach Ministries.  We also ask for your continued prayers for housing for the Adyniec family as they are now commuting 170 miles a day round trip to operate the thrift store.  Thank you again for your support and prayers for the ministry.

Amazon Project Special Update – Part 1

Posted by: admin on Monday, March 10th, 2008

Greetings to our friends……

Jill and I have been battling through the logistics of getting ourselves moved to Brazil. Each time we have set a date, it seems that complications come. But we have sold our house, found a great replacement to take over Missionary Resource, and other things have fallen into place. Yet, we are hesitant to set a finite date until we actually buy our tickets. Currently, minor (we pray) medical issues need to be taken care of while we still have good medical insurance.

Our previous planned departure date of Feb 18th was cancelled, but I (Joe) flew to Brazil on Feb. 20th to the 29th. I had 4 major goals:

#1 was to meet with the federal customs agency at the exact port where we will be sending our personal items. The written law of Brazil says we can bring our “personal and Business” items in tax free. But we have had trouble getting clear answers from the consulate office in Miami. I did in fact meet with the “Afundega” 4 times and gained valuable information. But this whole issue will take much prayer. The consistency of these laws seems to be up to interpretation.

#2 was to secure a rental house to live in. The house we wanted in the Missionary community is being turned into office space so we lost our reservation. Our next best option was a house that is somewhat occupied now, By a thousand termites. (a problem in Brazil) Our prayer is that they will be evicted before we arrive.

#3 was to find out about boats in the area that can be used for ministry. I looked at a lot of boats and visited shipyards in the area. But the most important contact was made when I visited the Brazilian Bible society for the 2nd time. A year ago they were thinking about selling a boat but then opted out. The good news is they now lease this boat to other ministiries. This will allow us to host short term teams almost immediately. it will also give us a chance to learn special dynamics to this type of ministry.

#4 was to take enough video and pictures to produce a nice promotional video for the riverboat ministry. I am happy to say that the mission accomplished and the video is in basic production now. Once it is done everyone will get a copy. I had great fun doing this. I took a 9 hr boat ride up the Amazon and a 40 minute flight in a two seater plane powered by a snowmobile engine. The result was I got over 200 video clips and 200 still pictures.
